Truth be told the average Kenyan young man is afraid of two kind of people…robbers and the police
If You are asking why the police are to be feared then I bet you have never been arrested, paraded in the street, beaten, robbed of your cash and valuables and thrown in a cell because you valuables were not enough before waking up to face the judge with a tramped up charge of say touting which you have to accept or else be remanded in industrial area prison here you will easily be molested … accept the charges and get a criminal record meaning that the closest you will ever get to America is the American embassy…if you accept the charges you will more likely be given community service that in simple terms means reporting to your local chief and probably having to wash the toilets of your former high school bare foot
That said I think you know why you have to steer clear of their paths or else….to help you avoid the consequences mentioned above here are some basics that ill help you spot them
Dressing
More likely than not they will ere their uniforms unless under special circumstances…however the goodness is that you can still spot the even with regular clothing…in regular clothing cops usually wear dull long canvas jackets or rain coats, this are to help hide their weaponry….as a result they will have this jackets sagging in one side due to the heaviness of their toys
Height
As a result of there recruitment cut off cops are more likely to be above 5’7 feet tall, however do not rule out the possibility of having a shorter cop
Their eyes
Cops due to the nature of their work are suspicious characters…they used to interacting with all manner of criminals…any cop can tell you that to spot a crook from that crowd off suspects you only have to look at them squarely in the eyes….therefore as they walk in the streets they usually look at people's eyes
Numbers
For safety reasons cops usually walk in groups of say two or three…therefore if you see two or three fellows together in the night they could probably be cops
Walk
Cops majestically as though they own the road…they walkup-right and do not slouch, it is said that this confidence stems from the toysthey carry around
Talk
Sorry to say but Kenyan cops talk carelessly with a tinge of boastfulness…you may also find them shrubing and speaking broken English
Paths
Cops don’t follow the main roads per se but go to short cuts and panya routes, how else do you think they get clients
If you see more than two of the qualities then you move outof the thought that they probably are cops to that of they definitely are cops
Do you have any more tips to help a fellow Kenyan?
