Eat pepper
food in vibanda’s is not the best tasting food around therefore to make it more palatable and appetizing you had better put the pepper that is readily available…pepper is also said to kill some germs in food
Don’t take water
One thing you should not do is to drink water…vibanda’s water may not be pure in the source and storage therefore to on the safe sidedo try to avoid it
Ask for saucers
the good thing about eating in vibanda’s is the fact that you can ask for additions of food or saucers as they are popularly called…so then take advantage of this
Always say hi to the seller and make friends with them
one way to always be assured of good sizable portions of food is to make friends with the seller…by befriending them you can influence them to give you better portions since they will view you more as friends than customers
Be a loyal customer in one joint
Being loyal pays whether you are dealing with a large multi-national or the local kibanda…it is a well known fact that a customer should be served better
Not chapati’s but mandazi’s
incase you are in the mood for wheat do take mandazi’s rather than chapati’s since they are more voluminous and cheaper…have this mandazi’s cut into peaces and soaked in soup (surwa)…in addition chapati’s can very easily be cooked with recycled oil unlike mandazi’s
Stage yote or mix is always the best
One other good thing about a the local kibanda is that you can always have a bit of everything that was cooked on that day…this is called mix or stage yote…not only is this concoction cheaper, it in much bigger portions unlike specific meals
Ask for a specific food then later ask to be added potatoes and vegetables
When you are ordering food order like say beans…since they will give you as beans then later you can complain that they did not give you some vegetables or potatoes…by doing so you are given a bigger portion of food
Check the seats and tables for dirt or soup before sitting
Unlike some posh 5-star hotel vibanda’s may not have the same level of cleanliness so it is always good to check seats for dirt or soup before seating on them…we wouldn’t want stains on your clothes now, would we?
Go there earlier than time
going for a meal just before lunch hour say at 12:30 pm is very beneficial…not only is the food warm but it is of way better quality….itis a well know fact that top layer food is way good than bottom layer besideswith time when soup get finished gallons of water are added making the foodless tasty with time
