Why you should hire a freelance accountant rather than employ one

Posted by george on March 31, 2011 at 3:50 AM

Cheaper

Unlike hiring a full time accountant who will requires a salary and benefits at month’s end try a freelance accountant who only get as much as you agree on which might be quiet cheap…unlike full time accountants freelance accountants may be paid as per hour or day, therefore you do not pay when the accountant is not working.

Reduced office space

Unlike a full time accountant a freelance accountant does not eat into your tiny office space as he can work from a café or at your premises during weekends.

Claim vat

Incase your freelance accountant is a VAT agent then you stand to benefit by claiming input VAT...this is not the case with a full time accountant

Need no software and hardware

A freelance accountant may come with his own hardware and software to process the transaction thus reducing the cost of acquiring them.

Get extra expertise and free advice

Having offered his services to various firms the freelance accountant has more exposure in areas of internal controls, tax and financial management

Reduced cases of fraud

Due to the fact that the freelance accountant is an outsider to the firm he is in a better position of not colluding with a firm’s employees to commit fraud or hide it

Better quality work

The chances of getting better quality work are more since what drives the freelance accountant more is to create a good name and reputation rather than the pay.

More effective and efficient

Since most freelance workers work in teams then they are more likely to specialize on the areas they are best at making them more efficient and effective.

Safety of data

most freelance accountants use online accounting applications to record transaction…this has the effect of safety of data from theft, fire and other eventualities besides the accountant can do your work wherever he is.
