Three decadesago, no one knows about this Gabbeh rug collections. But it is very muchdifferent today with the high consciousness of the public for these highlysought pieces of rugs. Though based on old patterns and designs, the simple yetbrightly colored designs are very contemporary looking and are highly valuedeven by collectors. The first type of rugs is thenatural Gabbehs. These are made with un-dyed yarn in different shades of mutedneutral palette like white, gray, cream, brown, and balck. The natural Gabbehsare actually the original ideas of a place near the Meshed city, the Khorasondistrict of Iran. Because these Gabbehs are not intentionally planned, theweaver has all the freedom with the rug, usually creating a spontaneous andunpredictable design.
